Authority

In this post, we explore authority as a dynamic relationship. Authority is shaped by both our inner experiences and our external interactions. Authority is not only about one person having control over another. Instead, it is a dynamic relationship where both sides play an active role. Jessica Benjamin’s idea of the intersubjective zone highlights that authority is a relational experience. Both parties are seen and recognized as independent individuals with the ability to make choices instead of one party being controlling over the other. The interaction recognizes the other party's individuality. Authority involves mutual recognition and engagement.

To gain a deeper understanding of authority, we had the privilege of interviewing Dr. Charles Bingham, a professor at Simon Fraser University.
